Kraft Foods is planning more than 70 new product innovations in the year ahead. As reported in the PR Newswire, simplified meal solutions, bold new flavor combinations and products that promote a healthier lifestyle will highlight the offerings.
"Americans are having more interactive experiences with food and want the opportunity to do some of the cooking themselves," says Barry Calpino, vice president, Breakthrough Innovation, Kraft Foods. "With global influence and the merging of different cultures, consumers are open to new flavor combinations. Being able to customize the flavor and texture to enhance the end dish is important and Kraft Foods is delivering."
Among the items focusing on flavor that Kraft will roll out is a new Oscar Mayer Butcher Thick Cut Bacon. It features hand-trimmed bacon made with sea salt, and will come in two varieties: Applewood Smoked and Hickory Smoked. It will be presented in new “premium Oscar Mayer Bacon packaging.”
Another example is the new Kraft Fresh Take product line, which is made from Kraft Natural Cheeses and breadcrumbs seasoned with blends such as Rosemary & Roasted Garlic, Chili Lime & Panko, and Southwest Three Cheese. These are “perfect for chicken, pork or fish,” according to the company.
Addressing U.S. consumers’ time constraints and their desire to eat better, Kraft Foods is introducing the belVita Breakfast Biscuits, a whole-grain, on-the-go breakfast option.
Lunchables will feature “better-for-you options,” presenting more varieties with fruit, such as Ham + American Flatbread Sandwich with applesauce, and BBQ Chicken Dippers with pineapple tidbits in 100% pineapple juice.
