A fire Wednesday at a hog farm owned by Dwight Busenitz, Benton, Kan., destroyed the facility killing about 2,500 young pigs, according to news station KSN.com.
Busenitz was not home at the time of the fire which was reported by neighbors.
The pigs, valued at $150,000, were insured, but the barn, valued at about $500,000 was only half insured.
Fire officials aren't sure what caused the blaze. Busenitz says he plans to rebuild.
