Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds says members of a trade delegation to Asia delivered letters of support for a proposed free trade agreement during their first stop in South Korea.
In a conference call Wednesday with reporters, Reynolds explained the letters were signed by Gov. Terry Branstad and other governors urging support for the deal. Reynolds, Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey and Department of Economic Development head Debi Durham will travel to China after South Korea.
Northey says he spoke with South Korean livestock officials about a disease outbreak in that country that could lead to increased demand for Iowa pork products. Durham says she visited two companies that could lead to opening operations in Iowa.
