Be sure to register for Doane's upcoming webinar scheduled for Aug. 6 at 10:30 a.m. (CDT). The webinar answers the question, "Will previous record corn and soybean yields be shattered in 2014?"
Doane soybean economist Bill Nelson and feedgrains economist Marty Foreman will summarize their findings during this 31st annual Doane corn/soy tour through the heart of both eastern and western corn/soy belt over a two-week trek.
This tour is unique in that it traces roughly the same route each year to make accurate year-to-year comparisons of visual ratings past thousands of fields. Plus, rain or shine, they get out and do measured yield checks every 15-20 miles to verify and tweak their visual ratings.
Their approach has offered near 100 percent accuracy in predicting the direction of change in the USDA August report that follows. Further, the Doane tour actually has a better track record than USDA’s own August report in predicting final crop size reported by USDA in January.
