A fire at a farm in Crawford County, Ill., killed an unknown number of hogs valued at more than $300,000 last week, and now authorities have arrested man in connection with the fire.
The Daily News reports that in the aftermath of the blaze, law enforcement officials arrested and charged a rural Palestine, Ill., man with allegations of arson and criminal damage Craig A. Fuller, who had worked as a firefighter in a nearby district, is currently awaiting a bond hearing with a judge.
The fire occurred late on May 16. The building, which housed more than 2,000 hogs was fully engulfed and partially collapsed when fire crews arrived.
Many of the surviving pigs escaped during the chaos and the public have been urged to call Maschoff staffer Joe Nattier at 618-301-2095 if someone in the area spots a pig.
