Dr. Julie Menard will be honored with the Allen D. Leman Science in Practice Award from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine and Pfizer Animal Health.
Established by the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine and Pfizer Animal Health in 1994, the award honors individuals whose achievements contribute significantly to the body of knowledge related to swine health and management. Menard graduated from the University of Montreal in 1987 and has served as a swine practitioner consultant for a swine-integrated company (F. Menard, Inc.) located in Quebec since.
Menard is active in the swine community, currently serving as a member of the Quebec Swine Health Advisory Board of the Quebec Pork Value Chain, the advisory board of the Research Chair on Food Safety from the University of Montreal, and the board of the Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) Area Regional Control and Eradication project in Quebec. She has been consulted as an expert advisor for many Canadian Swine Health Board projects.
Menard is a past president of the Canadian Association of Swine Veterinarians and served on the organizing committee of the International Pig Veterinary Society (IPVS) Congress in Canada in 2010.
