The National Pork Board’s Trucker Quality Assurance instructor training workshops will be offered in eight different locations across the United States now through Feb. 1, 2005. Training is offered to people wishing to become certified TQA instructors. Instructors who are already certified can renew their certification. All certified TQA Instructors need to renew their certification prior to Feb. 1, 2005, to remain current and to continue their certification abilities.

TQA instructors participate by educating truckers and others involved in handling live hogs before, during and immediately after transport. Issues that are addressed relate to humane animal handling, hog loading and unloading, and biosecurity. There is mounting evidence that TQA training has contributed to fewer transport-related deaths, as well as the number of fatigued pigs that result during transport.
