Smithfield Food’s new line of Premium Naturally Smoked Bacon is sure to tantalize consumers’ taste buds. Thanks to an all-natural, hickory wood-chip smoking process, this line of bacon products will have a rich mahogany color and a natural texture. The company plans to introduce the bacon in some of its major markets, including Texas and eastern states.

The bacon comes in six varieties: Regular-sliced, 25 percent lower sodium, 40 percent lower fat, thick sliced, brown sugar, maple-flavored and center cut.

This is another example of new product offerings that meet today’s consumers’ demanding and ever-changing tastes, filling the need for “something new”. While these kinds of products may encourage pork consumers to purchase more product, they also tend to entice new customers to purchase pork.
