Convenient, pre-cooked bacon with no messy cleanup has proven to be a favorite among today’s consumers. New for 2007, Schwan’s Home Service’s thick-cut, fully-cooked bacon that’s ready in 60 seconds promises to be a cut above what home cooks are used to serving.

“Schwan’s and the National Pork Board share the common goal of increasing pork sales,” says Clayton Crowley, senior strategic sourcing director for Schwan’s. The Minnesota-based company delivers frozen-food to approximately 3.6 million households across America. “NPB’s willingness to help spread the word nationwide about our new product is icing on the cake.”

The thick-cut, fully-cooked bacon has been featured prominently in Schwan’s catalogs since January, complete with the Pork logo and recipes for Classic BLTs, Bacon Dip and Bacon-Wrapped Scallops with Queso Corn. Promotions will kicked into high gear in early March with Schwan’s “News at the Door” campaign.

“The managers are educated about the product’s attributes and will carry a box of the bacon to the door when they call on customers,” Crowley explains. “We’ve tried this promotional strategy to introduce other new products and present Schwan’s meal solutions, and it has been very successful for driving sales.”
