The American Meat Institute has released a free consumer brochure called “A Consumer’s Guide to the Meat Case.” The objective of the guide is to provide consumers with clear insight into what to look for and consider when peering into the meat case and trying to make purchasing decisions.

Today, consumers are cooking at home more to save money, and many are confused and lack preparation guidance. The AMI brochure is designed to help by demystifying the cut selection and preparation process.

It is sized to fit in a purse or pocket and contains grids depicting each cut, its regional and fanciful name, and the cooking methods that can be used to prepare it.

This effort is particularly helpful this year, as economic turmoil raises concerns about whether meat demand will hold up and to what degree.
