The National Pork Board has added the popular Web site YouTube to its public education efforts. YouTube, a Web-based video-sharing site, now carries three short videos on pork production. The videos are intended to answer consumers’ questions about animal care, feeding and transportation.
Each one- to two-minute video features pork producers and industry experts answering common consumer questions on animal-care issues. They include “Pig Farmers Take Action,” which focuses on animal health and well-being; “Ride Along with a Pig,” which explains the care that producers’ take in transporting live animals; and “Pigs Are Hungry, Too,” which addresses requirements for the proper nutrition for pigs.
“Sites like YouTube allow messages to spread around the world faster than you can blink,” says Steve Weaver, NPB vice president. “I’m extremely proud of the YouTube videos that NPB has created to help us tell our story.”
