Neal and Brenda Larsen have gone from raising hogs to owning a catering business and pub in Elk Horn, Iowa. The producers' transition scored big when the Iowa Pork Producers Association announced Larsen's Catering and Pub as the winner of the association's "best breaded tenderloin contest." Breaded tenderloins have long been an Iowa specialty and favored item.

The Larsens' pork tenderloin beat 43 other Iowa restaurants that were nominated in the fifth annual contest, said Nelda Christian of the pork association. "The breading was fantastic, and it was a nice size, between 6 and 7 ounces," Christian said of the Larsens' winning tenderloin."It was very moist."

Runner-up was Rustix Restaurant and Reception in Humboldt. Honorable mention went to Fat Randi's Bar and Grill in Van Meter, Junction Bar and Grill in Delta and BK's Bar and Grill in Ogden.
