The Iowa Pork Producers Association will host the Iowa Pork Congress at the Iowa Events Center on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Des Moines Register.

Nearly 300 companies will exhibit swine-related products and services. A dozen seminars and live demonstrations are scheduled during the trade show, which runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Hy-Vee Hall and Veterans Memorial Auditorium.

A new feature this year is the addition of training certification sessions for Pork Quality Assurance Plus and Transport Quality Assurance. Confinement site manure applicators also can renew their certification in a two-hour workshop.

Seminar topics include risk management, environmental regulations, market forecasts, employee training, alternative production systems and disease prevention. Producers also can attend live demonstrations on swine necropsy and feed efficiency.

Michele Payn-Knoper, an agriculture specialist and author from Indiana, is the keynote speaker. Known as a "change agent," Payn-Knoper will teach producers how to reach higher levels of performance. Her address is titled "Celebrating Agriculture."

Registration costs $5 in advance or $10 at the door. Iowa Pork Producers Association members who preregister may attend free. Register.
