No matter how tightly you manage your input prices, the price of hogs remains the primary determinate of your business’ economic viability.

That’s the basis for presenting a brand new feature at this year’s World Pork Expo – the Marketing Information Center. Brought to you by the National Pork Producers Council, Pork magazine and Paragon Economics, the Marketing Information Center will take place on June 9 and 10 in the Varied Industries Building in Meeting Room C.

“The purpose is to provide producers with information on forward pricing, managing risk and alternative marketing,” says Steve Meyer, Paragon Economics.

Topics will include hedging and options; forward pricing; insurance and the risks of future pricing. Over the noon hour each day an outlook session will address weather, commodities, world markets and other important topics.

The Marketing Information Center will be open to all producers with the price of admission to World Pork Expo. Tickets are $8 per person at the gate, but can be purchased in advance for $5 each; call (515) 278-8012.
