While healthy and low-calorie foods are not a new trend, what is new is the expansion of those offerings in general and specifically in certain foodservice outlets. One such example is ARAMARK Business and Industry Group which provides meals to the company lunchrooms as well as other professional, educational and healthcare locations. The Philadelphia-based foodservice company launched of a new line of meals last month that contain less than 500 calories each. Known as the "5 under 500," the meals include one offering pork loin; they are:

  • Jerk-marinated pork loin with oven-roasted broccoli and lemon
  • Singapore chicken fried rice, featuring a grilled chicken skewer with garlic and ginger flavoring and vegetable-fried rice
  • Oven-baked fried chicken with tomato sauce
  • Grilled spicy black bean burger topped with either avocado corn relish, orange-cranberry relish or tropical BBQ sauce with mangoes, ginger and jalapeno pepper
