Even though McDonalds is launching “McRib 05: The Farewell Tour,” this sandwich is too popular to take it away.
“The ‘Farewell Tour is actually a hook to drive more customers to McDonalds,” says Jeff Pigott, director of foodservice marketing for the National Pork Board.
The fast-food chain believes the strategy will work, due to the pork sandwich’s loyal fans. McDonald’s has decided to have some fun with these fans by doing a farewell tour campaign.”
As part of the “Farewell Tour,” McDonald’s worked with the National Pork Board on a promotional campaign featuring the fictitious “Boneless Pig Farmers Association of America,” whose members are “petitioning” to keep the McRib.
