Total red meat supplies in cold storage were up 2 percent from last month and up 6 percent from last year, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Frozen pork supplies were up 3 percent from last month, but down 8 percent from the previous year. Stocks of pork bellies were down 1 percent from last month and down 25 percent from last year.

Frozen food stocks in refrigerated warehouses on were greater than year earlier levels for beef, eggs, chicken, butter and cheese.              

Total frozen poultry supplies on April 30, 2006 were up 2 percent from the previous month and up 13 percent from a year ago. Total stocks of chicken were down 3 percent from the previous month, but up 22 percent from last year.
