General Mills has teamed up with Food Network star Mario Batali to bring two new frozen entrees to market.
The frozen pasta dinners — Gemelli with Meatballs and Orecchiette with Sweet Sausage and Broccoli — are available at all Sam's Club and BJ's Wholesale Club stores nationwide and many Costco locations.
Batali and the Minneapolis-based General Mills settled on the two varieties, with meatballs made from beef and pork in one and pork sausage in the other. Both varieties are available for a suggested retail price of $10.99.
General Mills, the maker of Hamburger Helper and Betty Crocker products, began its partnership with Batali last August. He supplied the recipes, and General Mills R&D staff tested the products and worked on the reproduction aspects. A General Mills spokesperson says the company plans to continue to work with Batali to further penetrate the market.
