The National Pork Board is working to place pork on more menus. An example of a recent item includes Burger King Corporation's test of its new Smokehouse Barbecue Pork Sandwich and value meal. The sandwich can be found around Atlanta, Omaha and Sioux Falls.
It's comprised of slow-roasted, pulled-pork shoulder meat served with a tangy smokehouse flavored sauce on a large, soft corn-dusted bun.
The 30-day test run included promotions with local radio stations in each city. There were featured prizes for several local winners– they included such things as tool cases and aprons with NPB's "Pork...Now that's Barbecue" logo.
