This year, 27.5 million hot dogs will be eaten at major league baseball stadiums, according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council. That’s almost enough to stretch from Philadelphia to Anaheim.
Hot dogs are the No. 1 item at baseball stadiums, outscoring pizza, hot wings and pretzels. Baseball fans spent an average of $3.05 per hot dog last year.
Other trends that are surfacing — sausages are becoming a favorite; and fans want bigger hot dogs.
Without a doubt, the baseball-stadium market continues to provide a huge and apparently stable market for processed pork products.
