Bacon’s popularity continues to rise. According to NPD’s National Eating Trends, a checkoff-funded research study commissioned by the National Pork Board:


  • 72 percent of bacon is eaten “as is” (generally with eggs)


The remaining use includes:


  • Sandwiches: 15 percent
  • Combination dishes/casseroles: 6 percent
  • Eggs/omelets (cooked into an egg dish): 2 percent
  • Vegetables (beans): 2 percent
  • Salad: 1 percent
  • Other: 2 percent
