T.G.I. Friday’s signed a multi-year agreement with Atkins Nutritionals. Friday’s officials say Atkins will become “a visible presence” at all 523 of the company’s U.S. restaurants. The partnership will offer a variety of low-carbohydrate entrees, appetizers and desserts. The new Atkins’ offerings will spell out on the menu, the number of carbohydrates in each item.

Earlier this year Applebee’s formed a similar pact with Weight Watchers, and Ruby Tuesday also has introduced a low-carb menu. Wild Oats Markets, a large natural-foods-store chain, is increasing its selection of low-carb products, and will introduce a low-carb shopping guide by year’s end. Company officials say customer requests for low-carb foods have increased dramatically.
