U.S. doctors and other health care professionals have a new program to help fight foodborne illnesses. The kit, called a primer, was designed for doctors and other health care providers who deal with potential foodborne-related illnesses and diseases.

The primer contains charts outlining different illnesses, symptoms, treatment and foods associated with the problem, reports the American Meat Institute. The kit also has a FIGHT BAC! brochure for patients explaining who is at risk, the most common types of foodborne illnesses and steps to ensure food safety.

Teaming up for this project were the American Medical Association, Partnership for Food Safety Education, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and USDA.
