The Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus (PEDv) outbreak is calming down, but producers and veterinarians interested in analyzing trends in U.S. cases of PEDv and Porcine Deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) are encouraged to check out this new web-based tool.

The Disease BioPortral utilizes time- and space-sensitive graphics to depict state-level trends in cases of both PEDv and PDCoV. Dr. Rodger Main with the American Association of Swine Veterinarians explained that while these graphs and maps depicture the trends of the diseases in the country, the Disease BioPortal does not specifically reflect the actual number of premises or farm sites affected.

“It is our hope that stakeholders find this user-friendly web-based summary of aggregate diagnostic data (state and national) to be a useful complement to the SECD Situation Report being prepared by the USDA on weekly basis,” Main said.

The data in the graphs are from biological samples only – no environmental or feed samples are included.
