Thomas Titus, an Illinois pig farmer and one of the winners of the USFRA’s “Faces of Farming and Ranching” contest, spoke up to defend conventional agriculture from attacks made by #NewMacDonald propaganda.

His post drew on the popularity of #PetuniaThePig to point out that the use of hormones is illegal in raising and growing pigs, thus slamming the door on attempts for companies and groups to profit from labeling pork as “hormone-free.”

Titus’ efforts were not only to address assumptions made by consumers, but also to directly confront attacks made Only Organic through its #NewMacDonald campaign. The campaign missed its mark though, offending and uniting both conventional and organic farmers. Read, “Fighting back against hate: Farmers unite to takedown #NewMacDonald.”
