Listen up folks in snowless states – here’s your chance to buy your own slice of New England winter!

It’s no secret that New England has been hit hard by Mother Nature this year. Example 1: The next winter storm could push Boston’s seasonal total beyond the 100-inch mark.  But instead of griping and grumbling while shoveling the sidewalk yet again, one Massachusetts man opted to go a different direction – he decided to sell snow.

Yes, you read that correctly, and no, we’re not kidding.

Kyle Waring of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass., has created and implemented a business plan that is both brilliant and laughable through the launch of his new website service, ShipSnowYo.com. For just $89, residents from a snowless (or really any) state can now enjoy 6 pounds of New England’s snow. Shipping is included, and Waring says his snow can reach any destination in the country within 20 hours.

For those curious, that’s enough for 10 to 15 solid snowballs, even after accounting for a little melting during shipment.

The first obvious question – are people buying it? The answer: apparently so! Waring sold out of his six-pound snow product within 24 hours.

This venture may be short-lived, but that hasn't stopped Waring. He plans to keep offering snow as long as it’s available…and people are willing pay for it.

“At this rate, it’s going to be July until the snow melts,” he told Boston.com. “But I’ve thought about taking this idea and running with it for other seasonal items. Maybe I’ll ship some fall foliage.”
