The Danish pig breeding herd showed more growth in 2016. The Pig Site reported that the upturn is being pushed by better profitability as the finished pig market grew.
While total pig numbers were down somewhat in April, the Danish industry is encouraging producers to finish more hogs domestically. Piglet numbers, however, were up by 2% in April.
The total number of pigs over 50kg at slaughter was down 8% as of April 1, which was the same decrease they saw in January.
