With the Veterinary Feed Directive scheduled to begin on Jan. 1, 2017, antibiotics are first and foremost in producers’ and veterinarians’ minds. This is one of the reasons by the 2016 Antibiotics Symposium is such an important meeting. It will be held at the Hyatt Regency Dulles, in Herndon, Vir., Nov. 1-3.

Antimicrobial resistance is a complex topic and companies like Tyson Foods, the world's largest processor and marketer of chicken, beef, and pork, have been working with industry to identify and implement solutions.

Christine Daugherty is vice president of sustainable food production at Tyson. She is passionate about this issue and will present for the second time at this year’s symposium.
