Kansas Hay Market Report
Ground alfalfa movement: Southwest/South Central
Tonnage: 9,898/4,281 Last week: 8,968/4,323 Last year: 7,864/3,221
Hay trade slow. Demand moderate for Grinding alfalfa and alfalfa pellets, light to
moderate for Dairy alfalfa and grass hay. Mild weather has been replaced with cold
North wind and light snow over Western Kansas from a fast moving Front. Mild temps
should return by Thursday. Movement of hay has picked up ahead of the Holidays. Hay
supplies are adequate to plentiful. Fall grazing continues to be good, supplemental
feeding is increasing slightly. If you have hay for sale or pasture to rent or need
hay or grazing, use the services of the Hay and Pasture Exchange:
Dairy and grinding alfalfa steady. Movement moderate to active ahead of the
Holidays. Alfalfa, Horse, large squares 250.00, small squares 300.00, some 8.00-
11.00/bale. Dairy, Supreme 210.00-235.00; Premium 180.00-220.00; Dry Cow, Good
130.00-150.00. Fair-Good grinding alfalfa, at the edge of the field or delivered in

South Central Kansas
