A string of nine straight victories was denied for reigning hot dog champion Joey Chestnut as Matt Stonie defeated him on July 4. Stonie won with 62 hot dogs downed compared to Chestnut’s 60.

According to the Associated Press in a report here, Chestnut was gracious in his defeat, admitting he was “slow” and just couldn’t catch Stonie.  But despite the loss, Chestnut still holds the world record for eating the most hog dogs and buns in 10 minutes, which he set at 69 in 2013.

Stonie, 23, has set records in other foods he has eaten, too. Earlier this year, he set the world record in bacon with 182 strips in five minutes. Click here to read more about his stomach-stretching feats, which also include 14.5 pounds of birthday cake in 8 minutes and 20 pounds of pumpkin pie in 8 minutes.

Have we mentioned he weighs just 130 pounds?
