We’re pleased to introduce Darrell Anderson as a new blog contributor. Darrell was raised on a livestock farm in southern Minnesota and graduated from South Dakota State University, where he was a member of the SDSU Livestock, Meats and Wool Judging Teams. While serving as the Cottonwood County Extension Director in Minnesota, he coached the 1980 National Champion 4-H Livestock Judging Team.

Darrell was a sought-after judge and auctioneer at national sheep events prior to being named executive secretary of the American Yorkshire Club. He then was selected to serve as the first CEO of the National Swine Registry, a position he held for 17 years. Darrell has received countless industry awards for his valuable contributions, including recipient of the Livestock Publications Council Headliner Award and the Honored Agriculturalist Award from SDSU. He and his wife, Merlene, presently own a small llama herd.

I’ve always appreciated Darrell’s thoughtful editorials on the pork industry, and know he’ll be a valuable contributor. His first blog appeared yesterday, so if you missed it, click here.
