Marlys Miller, Editor
Marlys Miller was named editor of Pork magazine in 1995, becoming only the second person to hold that position since the publication’s inception in 1981. She joined the staff in 1987 as an associate editor. Marlys grew up on a swine, dairy and crop farm in Southern Minnesota. She attended the University of Minnesota, where she received a B.S. degree in agricultural journalism, with a minor in animal science. Prior to joining Vance Publishing, Marlys spent 3.5 years as editor of producer publications for the National Pork Producers Council. She also worked for Professional Farmers of America in Cedar Falls, Iowa, as a hog market analyst and writer. Marlys has received several honors from the Livestock Publications Council and the American Agricultural Editor’s Association, including the Master Writer distinction in 1995. She has won seven Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards and four Certificates of Merit for editorial excellence presented by the American Business Media in New York. Rick Jordahl, Associate Editor
Prior to joining the Pork editorial staff as associate editor, Rick Jordahl served in communication roles for several major animal health companies. While in these positions, Rick’s responsibilities involved communicating with producer groups, coordinating industry and media functions, preparing corporate reports and other related tasks. Rick is a native of North Dakota. His livestock background started at an early age, assisting in his father’s veterinary hospital where he actively participated in animal care and treatments. In addition, he worked closely with livestock producers on disease prevention, nutrition and herd health programs. Rick holds a Bachelor’s degree from North Dakota State University where he majored in communications. He was a finalist in the 2009 Jesse H.
